Common Questions

First Aid & CPR Certification in Brampton — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers based on Ontario WSIB rules and Canadian Red Cross policy — no guesswork.

Most workplaces require Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C. This 16-hour course pairs first aid with CPR training, issues WSIB approved certificates, and satisfies WSIB Regulation 1101 first aider ratios. Our first aid courses and CPR courses also cover most college and school requirements. An online course alone will not earn CPR certification, and there are no prerequisites.

There is no difference — they are the same course. The Canadian Red Cross renamed Standard First Aid to Intermediate First Aid in 2022. Both deliver the same comprehensive first aid content, one step beyond basic first aid, with CPR training at Level C. Certificates last three years, and recertification courses run once within 90 days of expiry. See how Standard and Emergency First Aid compare.

Emergency first aid courses run one day, about 8 hours, for basic workplace requirements or personal interest. Standard First Aid runs two days, adding comprehensive first aid and emergency response training from cardiovascular emergencies to bone, muscle, and joint injuries. Both include CPR training at Level C. Recent Canadian Red Cross updates added enhanced protocols for pelvic injuries and choking responses.

Our CPR training courses and recertification courses run at 83 Kennedy Rd S #1810, Brampton, ON L6W 3P3, near Kennedy Rd and Steeles Ave. Brampton Transit serves the corridor, free parking is on site, and the room is wheelchair accessible. This Brampton training location serves Bramalea, Springdale, Heart Lake, Mount Pleasant, Fletchers Creek, and Castlemore.

CPR training comes in four levels: A, B, C, and BLS. Level A covers adults only. Level B covers children and infants, which suits childcare staff and early childhood educators. CPR/AED Level C covers adults, children, and infants, and is bundled with Intermediate First Aid. Most Ontario employers ask for Level C CPR certification.

CPR certification at Level C and Intermediate/Standard First Aid both last three years. First Aid recertification courses run once, within 90 days of expiry, so a just-lapsed certificate still qualifies. Bring proof of previous certification. Blended recertification courses take as little as 4 hours, built on hands on practice and updated CPR training techniques. Basic Life Support needs annual renewal for healthcare providers. Browse Brampton dates and pricing.

Yes. Basic Life Support replaced CPR-HCP in April 2019 and is built for healthcare providers and first responders. You practise high quality chest compressions, appropriate ventilations with a bag valve mask, AED use, and team response through simulated clinical scenarios. BLS courses run all in class and stay valid one year, so healthcare providers book recertification courses annually. Non-clinical roles should take Intermediate/Standard First Aid, or browse BLS dates in Brampton.

Yes. Every course includes skills testing with an automated external defibrillator trainer, and your AED certification and CPR certification are issued together at no extra cost. Using an AED quickly can double someone’s chance of surviving a cardiac arrest. Our CPR courses also cover choking and the recovery position, so CPR training goes beyond cardiac arrest.

A blended course splits training in two: online training modules at your own pace, then a shorter in-class session for hands-on practice and skills assessment. The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board recognizes this format, so blended CPR courses lead to full certification. Your online portion is emailed within 24 hours of registration, and your digital certificate follows within 48 hours of passing.

Yes. Certified instructors travel to your workplace, school, or childcare facility across Brampton and Peel Region for teams of 8 or more, equipment included. Group CPR training courses also suit community groups, sports clubs, and other groups. Every session is tailored to your training needs while meeting Canadian Red Cross standards.
