First Aid and CPR/AED training in Toronto prepares you with all the essential knowledge to save a life. We never know when an accident will happen. This could be anything from a scrape, hypothermia or a stroke. First Aid and CPR/AED training in Toronto teaches students a wide variety of skills. Courses and training levels vary, depending on the first aid knowledge you require.

Understanding Different Training Levels

There are many different types of training that people require. Some workplaces in Toronto want their employees to be trained in Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C whereas others may only need their employees trained in CPR/AED Level A. There are a range of courses you can follow depending on the first aid knowledge required. All Canadian Red Cross first aid courses include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

CPR Training

  • CPR/AED Level A: This basic CPR/AED course teaches you how to apply CPR and use an AED for adults only. Training also includes information on choking, shock, stroke, heart attack and more. CPR/AED Level A training may be great for fitness instructors or anyone who works strictly with adults. Certificate is valid for 3 years.

  • CPR/AED Level C: If you wish to receive a more advanced training, you may want to enroll in a CPR/AED Level C training. This course teaches the same information as CPR/AED Level A, but includes training on children and infants as well. If you work with children as well as adults, you will need CPR/AED Level C training. Common occupations include dental hygienists, PE teachers and more. Certificate is valid for 3 years.
  • Basic Life Support (level HCP): This course is a specialized CPR training for healthcare providers. In this higher intensity course, students are taught how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. This course also teaches the use of a bag valve mask (BVM) and AED training. Basic Life Support training is typically required for nurses or other healthcare professionals. Certificate is valid for 1 year.

AED Training

AED training is included in all WSIB approved First Aid and CPR courses in Toronto. Students will learn how to use an AED properly on an adult, child or infant depending on the course level they have chosen. It has been proven that AEDs increase survival over 80% in people suffering from cardiac arrest.
