Frequently Asked Questions
How does Canadian Red Cross Online Blended First Aid and CPR/AED training work?
The Online Blended format is a great way to earn a WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED certificate. Not only is it more flexible to earn than the traditional all in-class format, but it is great for those with busy schedules. With the Online Blended format, you will be required to complete your First Aid and CPR/AED training course online and in-class.
The training will be divided into an online component and an in-class session. The online component can be completed in your own time in the comfort of your home. Learn the theory portion of your First Aid and CPR/AED training by reading text, watching videos and completing games and quizzes. After completing the online component, you will attend an in-class session to practice hands-on life-saving skills with a highly trained Canadian Red Cross instructor.
After completing both sections, you will receive a certificate which is valid for three years.
What do I need to take a First Aid and CPR/AED Recertification course?
In order to be eligible for a First Aid and CPR/AED Recertification course, you must meet some pre-requisites. If you register for a Recertification course and do not meet the pre-requisites, you will not be eligible for a refund.
We provide Recertification training for CPR/AED Level C and Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. In order to enrol, these two courses require you to have a valid (not expired) Canadian Red Cross certificate. If you wish to renew any other certificate, you will need to take the full course again (ex: Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C).
CPR/AED Level C can be recertified multiple times in a row as long as your current certificate is still valid. This means you can recertify a Recertification course. Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C can only be recertified if you currently hold a certificate from a full training course. You may not recertify a Recertification course. This means you must alternate between a full course and a Recertification course.
How do I know if I should take Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C or Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C?
Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED and Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C are two different trainings designed by the Canadian Red Cross. Each of these courses provides amazing life-saving skills, but one is more advanced than the other.
There are jobs and school programs in Etobicoke that require specific training. If you are taking a training course for a job or school program, please be sure to check which level of training is required.
Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C is our basic level of first aid training. This course will include all material taught in a CPR/AED Level C course such as CPR, AED and choking for people of all ages. It will also include a section on wound care.
Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C is a higher level of first aid training which will include all of the material in Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. This course also includes topics such as environmental illness, poisons and more.
Why don’t you offer CPR-HCP? Do I need to take Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) instead?
CPR-HCP is a course that was offered prior to April 2019. Since then, this training course has been upgraded to Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) by the Canadian Red Cross. The Basic Life Support training course is a great improvement on CPR-HCP as it covers life-saving skills more in-depth. Those who took CPR-HCP will now need to take Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP).
This four-hour training course teaches students a variety of skills ranging from high-performance CPR to trauma to working as a team in a fast-paced environment. Designed for healthcare professionals, Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) is required to be renewed annually. It is important for those who work in healthcare fields such as nurses, first responders, etc. to understand the material taught and be able to implement it when someone is in need.
By completing the Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) course annually, healthcare professionals will feel more confident in their life-saving skills, making them more trustworthy to our communities.
Why should I choose Private/Group First Aid and CPR/AED training over public training?

Private/group training has many great benefits. Not only will your group earn WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross certificates, but you will also get your training complete at a great rate! Our private training coordinators will provide you with a quote which cannot be beat.

Private training is simple and affordable!
Which CPR/AED training level is higher: CPR/AED Level A or CPR/AED Level C?
Currently, Canadian Red Cross training provides two levels of CPR/AED training. There is CPR/AED Level A and CPR/AED Level C. One of these levels is higher than the other, meaning that it teaches students more information and life-saving skills.
CPR/AED Level A is the lowest level of CPR/AED training we offer at Coast2Coast. This course will teach students how to assist an adult victim only, training you in CPR, AED, choking and more. This is a great course to learn basics about CPR, but is not recommended for all.
CPR/AED Level C, on the other hand, is a more advanced level of CPR training. This course teaches students all of the material in CPR/AED Level A, but also includes training on children and infants. CPR/AED Level C is the ideal CPR training course to take as it covers life-saving skills for all ages. This is important if you are working with adults and children/infants as techniques are different for each age range.
