Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Online blended first aid and CPR/AED courses are a quick and easy way to earn a WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross certificate. With this course format, your training will be divided into two parts: an online component and an in-class session.
The online component is the first step. This component must be completed prior to your in-class training date. Learn theory by reading text, watching videos and completing games and quizzes. The online component can be done at your own pace, making it easy for those with busy schedules to complete.
Following the online component, students must attend an in-class session. During this session, students will practice hands-on skills such as CPR, bandaging, using an AED and more. Learn from our experienced Canadian Red Cross instructor and gain the confidence you need to help someone during an emergency situation. An emergency may strike at any moment, so it is important to learn these life-saving skills.
The training for healthcare professionals used to be known as CPR-HCP prior to April 2019. Since then, this course has evolved into Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP). It is similar to CPR-HCP, but now goes into more depth about important life-saving skills that healthcare professionals should know.
In Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training at our Oakville facility, students will attend four hours of intense training dedicated to providing them the skills they need to save a life. Healthcare professionals play a very important role in our lives, so it is important for them to know and understand how to do high-performance CPR, handle opioid overdose, trauma and more.
Those enrolled in Basic Life Support will also learn how to work in a fast-paced environment (such as a hospital) and work as a team. Typical students who require Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training include nurses, dental professionals, first responders and more. With this training, students will earn a WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross certificate which is valid for one year.

Becoming certified in using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is simple! AED training is included in all of our first aid and CPR courses at Coast2Coast. In Oakville, we provide training on a weekly basis, guaranteeing you the opportunity to learn how to use an AED properly.
Using an AED is different based on the age of the person you are assisting. An AED will be used much differently on an infant than on an adult. It is important to understand how to use one in order to help save a life. If you wish to learn how to use an AED on all ages, you should register for a CPR/AED Level C training course or higher.
An AED is an electronic device used to assist a victim of cardiac arrest. If the victim has no pulse and CPR does not seem to be helping alone, an AED may be the difference between that victim’s life and death.
First, ask yourself: why do I need to be trained in CPR/AED? If you require training for work or school, it is important to figure out what training is required of you. Some workplaces only require CPR/AED Level A training, whereas others require CPR/AED Level C training. There is a difference between the two which we will discuss below.
CPR/AED Level A is our most basic CPR/AED training course in Oakville. With this training, students will learn how to provide life-saving skills to adults only. This includes: CPR, AED, choking and more. CPR/AED Level A may be ideal for personal trainers or other jobs who strictly work with adults.
CPR/AED Level C is an upgrade from CPR/AED Level A as it teaches life-saving skills to adults, children and infants. This includes all of the course material in CPR/AED Level A, but also teaches students how to perform these skills on children and infants. CPR/AED Level C is best for those who work with people of all ages.
The answer to this question varies depending on the student’s needs and requirements. If you are taking a training course for a job, it is important to register for the correct course. Some jobs may require you to be certified in Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C whereas others may require Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. What’s the difference?
Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C is one of Coast2Coast’s more basic First Aid training courses. This course will provide students the knowledge in how to assist people of all ages with CPR, AED and choking, as well as how to provide wound care. Students may earn their certificate in one full day of training.
Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C is a more advanced First Aid training course in Oakville, covering the same material in the Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C course. The difference between these courses is that Standard First Aid will include additional topics such as poisons, environmental illness, and more.
