Ottawa Instructor Development Transfer Course
Enhance your career opportunities with our Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Transfer Course in Ottawa! This training grants students the abilities and knowledge required to become instructors of various Red Cross Safety courses such as CPR, Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Child Care First Aid, and Marine Basic First Aid.
With prior experience, candidates may qualify for the Instructor Development Transfer Program under two conditions:
If they are an instructor with another approved First Aid agency
If the individual is a Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Instructor Trainer or an educator (elementary or secondary level)
Depending on the conditions the candidate fits in, their training will follow one of these paths:
- For those who qualify under the first condition, candidates will apply what they’ve learned from their prior First Aid Instructor training to the Red Cross’s First Aid program. Prior to becoming an instructor with Red Cross, potential candidates will need to complete a skills evaluation and then complete a Fundamentals of Instruction component. When these steps are completed, they may skip the Discipline-Specific component since they already are aware of the skills and knowledge required for First Aid and CPR. The next step to acquiring their credential will be a short, in-class teaching experience.
The candidates who fulfill the second condition must successfully complete a skills evaluation to begin this course pathway. Once they complete the skills evaluation and meet the necessary prerequisites, they can skip the Fundamentals of instruction section because they have prior teaching experience. They will start with the Discipline-Specific classroom component which is 14.5 hours. The participants will complete a teaching experience component after they finish the Discipline-Specific portion, during which they’ll practice peer teaching sessions.
The successful candidates will receive a certificate that is valid for three years. Get yourself registered now!
