You’ll learn vital techniques such as dog CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), cat first aid, and comprehensive pet emergency care. What to Expect:
- Understanding Normal Vital Signs: Learn how to check your pet’s heart rate, respiration, and temperature to recognize what’s typical, enabling you to detect when something is off.
- Addressing Breathing and Cardiac Emergencies: Master essential life-saving techniques, including CPR for dogs and cats. Be ready to act if your pet faces choking or difficulty breathing.
- Treating Wounds and Controlling Bleeding: From minor cuts to more severe injuries, gain the skills to clean wounds, stop bleeding, and apply bandages effectively to keep your pet safe.
- Responding to Seizures: Identify the signs of seizures and learn how to ensure your pet’s safety during an episode. Understand when professional veterinary care is necessary.
- Promoting Preventative Care: Discover strategies to keep your pets healthy, prevent illnesses, and prepare for potential emergencies, helping them lead long and happy lives.

- Must be at least 13 years or older
Course Information:
- Self-paced: Work through the materials online at your own speed.
- Duration: Approximately 1 hour.
- Knowledge checks: You must score at least 70% on each module’s quiz to pass. You can review the content and retake the quizzes as needed.
Certification:
- Students will receive a Canadian Red Cross certificate in Pet First Aid upon successful completion.
