A team approach to professional life-support skills is offered in courses that meet the needs of emergency medical services (EMS) personnel. As an EMR student, your course will heavily focus on skills-based training. Students may choose to enroll in the full EMR course, EMR Recertification or EMR Upgrade. These advanced courses will prepare students who are/will become firefighters, rescue safety members and other first responder roles to save lives.

What To Expect During FR/EMR Training

Students will practice hands-on skills with the best training equipment around! This training is heavily scenario-based. Students will be required to think on the spot in order to provide the best care for their “patient.” Each student will respond to multiple scenarios under the guidance of an experienced Canadian Red Cross instructor.

Not only will you learn how to perform techniques, you will also learn how to communicate and work as a team. It is important to understand that working together can make the difference between life and death.

During scenario training, students will have the opportunity to act as a primary responder, secondary responder, victim and bystander. Primary responders must give orders to their secondary responder. Each responder must work together to care for the victim. They must also communicate with the bystander and victim to find out more information regarding the incident.

Coast2Coast's online + in-person was excellent!

They're not kidding when they estimate the online component is 7-8 hours... so I'd recommend spacing it out as 1-2 hours over several days rather than one intense day of online training/quizzing.

The in-person component was taught by Scott F, a former paramedic. He was spectacularly helpful, quick on his feet, and excellent in his emphasis on key details. I scored 100% on the test today, undoubtedly due to Scott's excellent instruction.

I'll easily and happily look to Coast2Coast for my recertification course in 3 years! Thanks Scott F and thank you Coast2Coast for hiring/contracting Scott!
